Welcome everybody. We're going to let up.
Let everybody get logged in here before we start.
Thanks everybody for joining us. We'll wait just a few minutes and as soon as everybody gets logged in, we'll get started.
OK, it looks like we've just about got everybody logged in. I want to welcome everybody tonight to our session before I introduce myself just a couple of housekeeping notes. This format does not allow me to see your video, so no worry about that. You should be logged in and should see.
My image and some slides that will be going through here in a minute. There is also a chat feature where you'll be able to enter some questions and for now if you would like to enter your name and and where you're from, that will all be done privately and then eventually when we get close to the end of the session, I'll give you a reminder, but we will open up for some questions that you might have about the enrollment process and we'll go from there.
So, uh, my name is Jeff Heitzenrater. I work here in the office of admission. That's where I'm sitting right now in Fulford Hall. I've worked at Swanee for about 31 years, so I've been here a long time. I worked both in the Admissions Office and for 21 years I've worked. I worked in the Athletic department as the cross country and track and field coach so I have a little bit of experience there. I'm also a former Swanee parent, so our older son, Andrew, graduated from Suwanee and.
2020 so two a year and a half ago. And we also have a younger son Larson, who is a current junior at Wofford, so we've fairly recently gone through this college search process and certainly understand where you all are in all of this and can appreciate that decision making process.
I believe tonight we have a mix. Some of you who signed up have already paid your deposit. So welcome to the Swanee family. We look forward to helping you go through this enrollment process and get you guys checked in on the mountain in August. And some of you have been admitted had did not have not paid a deposit yet. But maybe you're right on the edge and this is the information that will push you over to pay your deposit later tonight. I hope. So yeah I am happy to be here with you guys.
Shared start moving through the slides here. I encourage you to ask questions and when we get here at the end we are basically gonna spend our time tonight talking about the enrollment process and the word enrollment could mean a lot of different things. Some people would say the application process is technically part of the enrollment process, but very specifically tonight we're going to be talking about the process between when you pay a deposit to secure your spot.
As a Swanee student and when you actually show up in August and matriculate.
So the vast majority of the enrollment process involves some checklist items and quite a bit of communication between now and the middle of August. So what what can you expect from the session? We will definitely be going through some checklist items and then talking about where those can be found and how to complete complete them talking about future checklist items that are not yet available but will become available some soon and.
I'm not until June or July.
Excuse me, will be talking about the Yourdomain website.
Sorry about that where you can find a lot of information about enrollment and swaney and maybe have lots and lots of your questions answered.
We'll go over some important fall 22 enrollment dates and deadlines. We'll talk about that, and then at the end we'll have a little Q&A session to wrap things up and give you a chance to ask some questions that maybe maybe don't get answered in this session. I want to start off by saying some of you have logged in our potentially international students and all of the forms that I'm going to talk about tonight will apply to you.
But there are some additional forms for students who were enrolling from countries outside of the US, and so I encourage you to just stay in touch with Tim Neil who's our director of international recruitment. And there is his email there on the screen, and so if you have questions about some of the forms that I'm not going to discuss this evening, I would encourage you to reach out to Tim and he'll share his expertise and help you navigate that process and he can also help you with all the forms we're going to talk about tonight.
But the ones that that we're not going to talk about, if you have questions, Tim is definitely the expert and can help you out with that.
So let's talk about what checklist items are available right now. So why am I calling this a checklist?
Well, you guys have had an applicant status page already and you pretty much had to log into that to get to where you are now, because that's where you checked on the status of your application. That is also where you received your admission decision.
And if now it's also where you paid your deposit, or at least found the link to pay your deposit.
And starting now, after you pay your deposit, it will become your enrollment checklist.
Space or page, so there'll be a section at the top of that page that is titled forms and that is where all of your your checklist items or enrollment forms are going to appear. And there's the website rightthereagainengage.swanee.edu back slash forward slash status that has been your applicant status page and it is now your enrollment checklist item page. So the three forms that are available right now.
And some of you have already completed those with those became available yesterday afternoon and we have maybe 20 or 30 students who've already completed a couple of these. The ones that are available right now are the activating your swaney username, activating your Swanee email, and the contact and communication form. So let's just talk about those three first. First is activating your Swanee username, and so one of the.
Systems that you'll be using as a student at Swanee is called Banner, and Banner is a system where you'll do a lot of different processes that you'll need over the course of your time. Here, for instance, Banner is where you're going to register for classes, banners. Also, where I believe you received your grades once you're here, and so you really need your swaney username, and this step has to be done first before any of the other checklist items will populate.
So this is actually an image taken straight from the form and it is how you will see it when you log in to activate your Swanee username. I've also like to point out at the bottom and and that also is a note that's on this form. If you have questions about this, it's potential. It's possible that your admission counselor at Swanee could help you with the form, but some students get in there and they find that their little snafus, either with their computer system.
Or their webs, their Internet access, or something? If you have trouble with that, help desk can be really, really helpful. That actually is a group of Swanee IT employees, university employees and you can just write the helpdesk at swanee.edu. You'll probably be reaching out to them a lot during or some during your career here at Swanee as a student and that's who we go to. Even if I have an issue with some part of my computer or with a website.
I go to the help desk so they can be really helpful in getting your banner Swanee username. So once you complete that process then you'll be able to go in and activate your Swanee email and so everyone. Everyone of you who pays a deposit before these forms populate. You just want to email actually gets created by it folks. So there's the form there and then there's some instructions. That's what they inform will look like. You just wander through those instructions.
And and figure out how to log into your Swanee email. It's essentially a Gmail account, and so you might already have a Gmail account. You might have multiple Gmail accounts. Well, this will be a different one that'll add on to that, and we'll. We'll be where you'll receive all of your communication from a really starting now until you enroll in August now. Technically, speaking for awhile we will send all of the emails too.
Your swan, your new Swanee account. Your Swanee email account, and to the account we've been sending to you throughout the admission process, and I know there's some parents logged in here. We also copy parents in the enrollment communication through the summer, and so you'll receive those emails as well. But Swanee email definitely set it up and start to use it, or at least check it very often in the summer, because that's where we'll be sending your information.
OK, so moving on the last one that is available right now is the contact and communication form.
And this one essentially gives you the opportunity to confirm some information that we might already have from you. Your address, your phone number, your preferred email account. Of course, the one outside of your Sony email account you could also.
Turn into the university in emergency contact name and contact information. You can tell us about communication preferences. You can indicate if there's a different language spoken at home other than English. You can indicate that on this form and it just gives you an opportunity essentially to update all that information before you enroll. That information will go to lots of different offices on campus. Will just help them keep in touch with you during your time. This is a mandatory.
Form and there are fields within this form that are required as there are in several of the other forms, so just make sure you wander through this form and and fill it out. One thing I should say to is that there will be some reminder communications throughout the summer. So for instance if in a couple of months you haven't completed your.
Username form or the email form you're going to start to get some reminders about that. Those will come by text if we have your cell phone number, or we'll send those to your email address that we already have, so we'll try not to bug you too much, but these are really important, and if you want to enroll, you need to go through these steps. One of the other things I would say is parents. We definitely want your son or daughter to complete these forms, some of them they're going to need your help.
'cause they're not going to have all of that information, but I would encourage you to empower your son or daughter to, you know, make these their steps not yours, and have them complete these forms as they're going through this summer, and some of them are really, really important that the student completes the form and not the parent, and we've indicated that on these forms. So let's talk about some of the forms that are going to begin to populate starting really next month.
One of those is, well, what is formally called the academic inventory, and it might actually still be called that. But that's a form that's currently being updated for the current year by the Center for Academic advising or the academic advising team, and that form essentially will just gather information about you as a student. Your high school experience, some your likes and dislikes, maybe some things you're thinking about majoring in.
That's also the form where you'll be able to turn in information regarding dual credit courses and potentially getting credit at Swanee for this class is dual enrollment classes and also AP exams and IB exams that you've received scores. You can turn those scores in, and it's this form will have the instructions on how to do that. So again, very important that the student is completing that information. We're not interested in knowing.
What's your mom wants you to major in? We want to know what you are interested in majoring in. Sorry mom, mom may give you some advice, but we're interested in or. Dad, sorry, dad. We want we want to hear that from you and one of the questions is going to be what language classes have you taken previously? And as soon as you answer that question and turn the academic inventory in, you will receive on your on your roll. Minton checklist page.
The language placement exams for any language that you list. We are professors want you to take the language of placement exam for every language other than English that you've taken prior to enrolling in Swanee. And why is this? Well, you may have every plan to take French, for instance when you enroll. But let's say you've taken French and Spanish. You enroll, you take French, you take the French placement exam and they use all that information to basically place you in a level of.
French and for a semester you do that and you decide, oh I'm going to switch to Spanish. Well, there's no way to backtrack at that point and take the Spanish placement exam. So they're gonna require that you actually take all of those placement exams before they'll start to enroll you in classes. So language placement exams just keep an eye out for those and make sure you fill this out. All of these items that are in purple are optional forms. If you are recruited student athlete, then on your enrollment status page you will see a student athlete.
File form that will populate and that should be sometime in April. It might actually be March, but once they complete that form in March or April we will make that one active for students.
Daniel need to accept the financial responsibility.
Statement at on your applicant status page. This is essentially a form that says you understand that there is a bill that's going to need to be paid and you agree to pay it. It's pretty pretty simple. The Student Accounts Office creates this form and you will actually complete this in banner. So again, really important to have your username completed before that and you'll get lots of reminders about this that what we call the FRS the FRS is mandatory.
And actually you have to do that before you will be able to register for classes. So very important or or fill out the living form and pick your dorms. And so that's really important to make sure when you see the FRS that you fill that out and complete it.
A couple of other optional forms. We have two programs that are happening prior to freshman orientation. One of those is called finding your place or fyp and the other is called pre or the pre orientation outing program which is run by the Sony outing program. Both of those registration forms will be available on April, probably on April the 15th. That's typically when we do that, but just keep an eye out for those in April.
I will also encourage you to do some research. You can go on our website to find out information about fyp and pre and see if maybe one of those programs you'd like to to do. Typically about 200 students will do pre and about 100 students will do fyp and those spots can sometimes fill up pretty quickly. So when that form is available don't waste a lot of time thinking about it. If you if you think you want to sign up for one of those, just go ahead and do it within a couple of days of when the form is available.
One of the other option optional forms is the self reporting test scores, so the Institutional Research Office here likes to gather information about test scores, SAT and ACT scores.
You might have chosen to apply test optional normally about 30 to 50% of our students will apply test, optional, and so if you did apply test optional then you're going to have this optional form populate on your enrollment status page.
This form will have no bearing on your admission that part is done. You know if you if you're on if you got invited to the section, you're either a deposited student or an admitted student, and so it's just an opportunity for institutional research to gather some more information. So we usually have some students use that self reporting test scores and we would encourage you to do that. OK then in May in May, the University Health forms are going to become available and the student athlete health.
Forms in addition, the photo submission for your student ID. All of those pieces are really important. They'll be very detailed instructions for the health forms on how to complete them. The Wellness Center essentially coordinates the University Health forms process and sell the contact information made available in May on who to reach out to. If you're not sure whether you need to get it physical or if you have other questions about forms, the student athlete health forms.
Are coordinated by the Athletic Training Office here at the university. We have a head athletic trainer reignite and so his office will be sending out information about the health forms and those will populate on the status pages for recruited student athletes and then the photo submission for student ID. There's a really cool app or website system that we've subscribed to. We started using us last year so you can actually create your student ID over the summer.
There are some requirements for what the photo needs to look like, and those instructions are on the form, so you fill all that out and then when you show up you don't have to go through the process of creating an ID. Your ID will be waiting for you when you show up.
OK, what everybody really wants to know and 99% of our questions are regarding course selection and dorm assignment. So both of those processes in the past have happened in June early to mid June, potentially late May, but just have the month of June in mind to keep an eye out for. For those forms the living form is what we call.
We're well previously what we call the residential life form. They they will update that form again and and make it live here, probably in late May and early June. And that's where you'll be able to sign up for your dorm. There'll be contact information there in order to reach out to residential life. If you have questions about about the living form and then there's course selection and so academic advising essentially coordinates the course selection process.
It's likely that in addition to the academic inventory and the course selection form, that there might be a third form in order to gather all the information that they need to help you sign up for classes.
Sometimes on this session we've actually talked about the course selection process and how it works. I'm not gonna do that tonight because they're still working on that. The academic advising team is is going to fine tune that process this summer, and we'll be able to have instructions available for you in the form is ready and we'll definitely share those with you on the form.
Maybe most importantly you need. This is not most important, but important nonetheless. The student account registration? That's another question that we get often. When can I pay the bill or when it's the bill do and they the student Accounts Office will make bills available in June. So parents, this is actually a really important piece to understand. Is that your son or daughter has to make the.
A student account, website and payment area available to you so students will get the login information and they can go in and give you access to that page and so in my case, for instance, with our son here, that's what happened. He went in and registered and he turned me in and and and Kim his mom in as as the parties responsible for the bill. And then we were able to go in and basically navigate that site.
But but the student is definitely protected in this process, and so they get to do that registration process and will will give you access. So just be aware that that's going to happen in June and you can start to talk about to your son or daughter about that and they'll make it available to you and the due date will be on there. You can sign up for a payment plan, you can pay what's available in advance. That will also reflect all of the merit scholarships and need based financial aid.
As well, and so it should. It should be a mirror of the financial aid package you receive shortly after you're admitted.
OK, that's a lot, so let's keep moving though. But start to think about the questions that you might have and go ahead and you can start to put those questions into the chat because we'll be wrapping up here in just a few minutes. What are we about 23 minutes in, so maybe about 10 more minutes, and then I'll get a chance to answer some questions. So if you want to go ahead and start chatting those in.
OK so yeah, I just wanted to talk a little bit more about the student account Center access bill up. I think I went over the most of this information already. It's available on June. Actually it's not swanee.afford.com. I'm sorry I didn't update that. They actually just recently changed the system where they're doing the account center and Bill access. You can't go in there now anyway, but just know that's 184.com is not actually the website, so we'll update that for the next session.
But you'll be able to still set up a payment plan. You'll be able to pay for the fall semester, and then they'll go for the spring in December.
And you have to be paid in order to move on to campus. So that's really important to know that that's a process that has to happen. You also have to have health forms complete before you can move into your dorm, so we'll trust me. We will completely remind you about that all summer long. We have a whole series of communication set up to go to students with parents copied on all of those, so you might get sick of us, but.
Yeah, we're just gonna constantly remind you that these things are do. If you haven't turned them in and to make sure to pay the bill and turn your health forms in those things.
OK, so there are some things that, for instance are required. I mentioned this earlier in order to for next steps to happen. So for instance if you went on for some reason your page in July and maybe there are seven forms on there and you haven't done any of them and email and twanna username or two that are still available, you have to do those first before you can do anything else. In fact, you have to complete the username form before you can complete the email form. As I mentioned earlier, you have to accept the financial responsibility statement.
Form before lots of other things happen. Course registration, dorm sign up. You have to pay your bill and you have to do the health forms. There are some other things that will happen and these these are forms that get created or edited throughout the summer. So if as a student you're going to bring a car or a bike and you want to register those for a parking sticker, the bike registration just allows you to put a sticker on your bike. In that way you know if it kind of wanders off somewhere if somebody borrows it, it's a little bit easier to follow.
The orientation process is always edited and updated and changed just a little bit over the summer, and it's likely that's going to happen as well. So just keep an eye out because you will get lots of information communications about that from the Dean of Students Office, and if there are any forms involved, or if there are some are online options. For instance, is something that could happen that will happen, and then there's typically an in person orientation process as well.
And throughout the summer, definitely the last two summers. One of the questions we've received is the university's COVID protocol or the Vaccine Protocol or the booster protocol. Trust me, all of that will be communicated well in advance. Those conversations have already started. Those decisions will happen at a high level at this institution, and we will definitely communicate with that you with that with you as soon as possible. So in typical years in August.
What happens students? Let me just skip ahead to these dates. This will be a little bit more helpful. I think what happens in August? Well, if you sign up for finding your place or fyp this year, you will actually move in on August the 10th and that program will go until the 19th. If you sign up for pre then you'll be able to show up on August 17th. That should be a Wednesday I think, and that program goes until Friday the 19th. They might even have on event Saturday morning I believe.
For pre new family orientation and new student orientation begins on Saturday, August the 20th and you can see there there's a difference. So for parents or guardians or family, the orientation is typically a two day process and I just threw those dates on there, assuming that it was be fairly similar as what we've done in the past and that that means on Sunday parents and families see all the eve.
And you'll be reminded of that. It's really important that that you guys move on and allow your son or daughter to get started on their new journey, and then students orientation will go until that Tuesday the 23rd with the first day of classes on the 24th. So one thing that's not on here is what if you're a fall sport varsity athlete, you might have a preseason. In fact, it's very likely that you will, and so you'll get lots of information from your coach. They will keep you informed on when preseason begins when you can move in.
Dorms, you'll have access to the dining hall. All of those things will happen, so just be aware that that's something that's going to happen, and then at the bottom of this page you can see the yourdomain.swanee.edu page. We really encourage you to go on that page right now it is ready for you to start doing your research about Swanee. There's a link, for instance, to the parent page. Some of the parent links will actually just give you information about orientation and things that happened last year, but it's.
But as soon as that information becomes available for this year, the OR domain page and the parent page and the dorms page, all those things will be updated and you can take a look at those.
OK, let's move on to the question session and let me scroll through. It looks like we have people logged in from Long Beach to North New York, North Carolina. We've got Georgia, Tennessee.
Oh great to see the voters on here y'all from north from Durham, NC which is where I was born. So that's nice. New Mexico, Florida, South Carolina.
OK, so first question that I'm coming to here is where is the tab to find these tasks to complete. So let me just go back.
And here is the website engage.swaney.edu/status. That's the website you can go to as a student. You should already have login information and when you open that page at the top you will see a before. Now you have seen your application materials list and now just above that will be your enrollment.
Forms list it actually just says forms and so under the forms is where you're going to find all of these. These three right now and then. These three forms, and then eventually you'll see the rest of them. So that's that's where you go for that information. If that didn't answer your question, just throw another question on here and I'll come to it when I get to the bottom.
OK oh, great question. If I'm going to start a new language at Swanee.
Do I still need to complete the language placement exam? Yes, they're going to require you. Let's say you've taken Spanish and Italian and you want to start a new language, Latin. They still want you. They're still going to make you take the Spanish and the Italian placement exams because you might start Latin and hate it. Sorry all you Latin professors out there. They're probably going to love it, but you might change your mind and go back to Spanish or Italian. And there you are and you haven't taken the language placement exam. It's not available anymore.
So go ahead and complete those great question. Thank you for that.
Ander
06:31:46 PM
If I am going to start taking a new language at Sewanee (Latin) do I still need to complete the language placement exam?
Can we use our swaney email to access academic journals or do we have to wait? That is a great question and I actually do not know the answer and so whoever that is, oh, you know what? Let me?
Garrett
06:31:49 PM
Can we use our Sewanee email to access academic journals or do we have to wait?
I'm going to prove these questions and that maybe you guys will be able to see them. What has been answered.
I am not sure I. I'm assuming that you mean academic journals that require login information for a current college student, and so I'm assuming that the answer is yes.
But there's my email on the screen and if if you would like to send that question to me by email, I would be happy to look into that further and and hopefully get some information. I'll respond to you either way. I may have to send you to somebody else to get that information, but I will definitely.
Charlie
06:32:29 PM
Where is the tab again to find these tasks to complete?
I'll definitely look for that for you, so I need to improve that one, OK.
Uhm, when and how do we pick receiver roommates? OK, that's the living form that we talked about in living form will happen, probably in June, and essentially in the past. They could change this process, but in the past you fill out a questionnaire and you kind of describe yourself and you describe your ideal remate and you give them a list of dorms that you might be interested in, and they have links to all websites of all the dormitories on campus, with pictures of lots of different room options.
Erin
06:33:28 PM
When and how do we pick/receive roommates?
And then they do all the placement and I will say as an incoming student they do hold spaces in lots of dorms. You might be thinking. Oh well, seniors and the rising seniors, juniors and sophomores get first choice, so freshmen get the worst storms. It's actually not the case. They hold lots of spaces in great dorms for incoming new students, transfers and freshmen, and so that's when that process will happen and you will be able to go through that process. And then you have questions you can talk to a residential life.
McKaela
06:33:43 PM
When will the Federal Loan Request/Decline Form become avalible?
Ah, excellent question. When will the federal loan request decline form become available? You know, I didn't even put that on the list unless I skipped over it, but that is one that will happen. It typically is in May or June.
No, it's gotta be before then it's so it has to be in May and you'll have an opportunity to approve or decline your loans and so that form typically doesn't change from one year to the next. So it is something that will go up pretty quickly.
Ander
06:34:27 PM
Will you distribute these slides? The checklist would be extremely helpful
Let's see, will you distribute these slides? The checklist would be extremely helpful, so this whole session will become a video that will go on our available videos page on our website for virtual visits. So just you can come back to this later if you want to. Great question, it will be available.
OK, what other questions do we have?
OK, somebody asks, does my student need a car on campus? That is a really good question and old stingy.
Did Jeff Heitzenrater, father of a son who came here, did, didn't allow Andrew to have a car here? And, well, you know he.
Went across town to college and I we really found that in fact he never once begged us we had a car sitting in the driveway that his brother was using to go back and forth to school, but he could have shared it with Andrew. But we found that Andrew really didn't need a car. Now. Part of that was because he became friends with some students right away and really good friends and some of those friends had cars and they were willing to help Andrew get places if he needed to get places.
Again, he never once asked, hey, could I please just borrow the car? We eventually his senior year, let him have that 'cause his brother went off to college and we let him have the car. And but again he really found he was able to get around campus pretty easily. It's a walking campus. It's very mostly an easy walking campus.
Students will have an opportunity to park near their dorms, but they're not allowed to drive to class. So if your dorm room is, if your dorm is a little bit farther away come from campus, you're not allowed to drive to campus. You have to walk or ride your bike. So really, the car is for off campus opportunities, and again, our son found that he was able to find a ride every time he needed one. He didn't ever call us and say, could you please give me a ride somewhere?
OK, the question is about their foreign language requirement and the answer is yes. Foreign language is required and I can't remember off the top of my head how many credits are required. I think it is 3 semesters. It might be 4.
But that's part of what happens with the placement exam and with the summer advising team is they will look at the classes you've already taken in the language you want to continue and take the foreign language placement exam and they'll place you in a level of foreign language. So there if if their requirement is 3 semesters, and I'm sorry I don't know that top my head and you place out of 1 semester then you only have to do 2. You might place out of two semesters and you only have to do 1.
Colin
06:37:34 PM
Is a foreign language required? If so how many credits are required?
So that that language placement exam is extra important for that you could start over in the language you just have to start through the requirement from the beginning, but that was a good question. Thank you if you wanna follow up on that and say alright, I really want to know is it three or four. Happy to look that up for you and respond by email.
OK, someone is having trouble.
Activating their swaney username.
And they're getting an access denied message.
In it, and they're saying, is that my problem? Or should I go ahead and and contact Swanee? So if you remember earlier?
There was this this help desk at swanee.edu.
Daphne
06:38:34 PM
Hello! I'm trying to activate my Sewanee User Name but I keep getting this message: "Access denied due to insufficient license. Please contact your administrator." Is it from my end or should I go ahead and contact Sewanee?
Go ahead and just reach out to them. You might get an immediate response that says, OK, you've created a ticket and that means you've initiated the system for them to look at your question and respond, and typically you will hear. I always find that I hear one in about 24 hours. So yeah, definitely reach out to help desk. They can kind of help you walk through the process and figure out what you know. Where is the issue?
Alright, what other questions do we have here?
Sorry, I have to leave my computer.
Oh OK, how do you make changes to the contact form after submission? So I'm just gonna go look at the contact form real quick.
And I do not actually think it is editable.
there is a way around that.
And let me just study this for a second and see.
I don't think it is editable, so if on your applicant status I'm sorry. Yeah, well your applicant status page which turns into your enrollment page. If you can't click on that form again and reopen it then one thing you could do is reach out to your admission counselor and just ask us about it. We can actually help you edit that form for you. We could actually potentially make it available for you again to complete and edit for a short period of time, so if you can't click on it.

How do you make changes to the Contact Form after submission?
And edit it. Just reach out to us and we will. We will help you with that. Good question.
Alright, let's see what else I have here.
Ah, what percentage of students have bikes? I actually don't know the answer to that question, but let's say we're talking about Smith Hall, which is right next to me here. It's dark. I can't see out there, but there are two bike racks out here, and there are probably 25 bikes on the bike rack. There may also. I don't know how this storm works. There might be an underground storage as well. There are tons of bikes, but I'm going to. I'm going to give you the parent answer to that question. Here's the parent answer.
Lots of students will say hey, I want a bike and can I bring my bike? Or can you buy me a bike but I really would encourage you as students to really think about that question because I sit here and look at about a dozen bikes that haven't moved from the beginning of the semester. So it's really easy to bike around this campus. I am totally guilty of driving a half a mile to work at is.
Awful. I mean, if you really think about, that's terrible. So I try to walk. I did walk into the session tonight. Good job Jeff. And there are many times when I will bike to work, but I could walk and bike every day and so lots of students. Our son took a bike, it set up. It said the same dorm for two years in row. I got really Rusty and eventually it just went and got it and brought it home. And so some students bike every day and I see them every day and they bike around a lot. But just be honest with yourself and in fact if you bring a bike and you're not going to use it.
Go ahead and take it home at the end of the semester. At the end of the year and just don't bring it back because there's no point in it sitting out here rusting.

what percentage of the students have bikes?
But I don't. I don't know the percentage, so if you if this storm is an example, I'd say half the people in this storm. Half bikes I'm only seeing 25, but there's got to be more. There's probably a storage building or another bike rack on the other side of the dorm, and that's probably half of those students.
OK, let's see. You have to move this to see this question. What time is it? OK? We've got a little bit more time, so if you have questions, definitely put those in here. We only have about one more that's been asked that I have a that I haven't answered for.
Oh, OK, the question is, UM, is it OK for freshmen to have cars on campus or is it a raffle? Depending on the amount of people, sign up everybody. Anybody can bring a car here. So if you know anything about Swanee, you know that we have 13,000 acres and that's a lot of space. There may not be that. We have 1700 students. We definitely have 1700 parking spaces because there's a really big parking lot over on the other side of campus. Some students call it the.
Kmart lot because it's it's big.
It's kind of inconvenient in some ways, but you know, like inconvenience in one, people's mind is convenience and others minds. It's it's pretty far away from some dorms, and yet it is really close to others it all. It's also open to employees anyway. The short answer was anybody can bring a car. It's not necessary. You do have to register it and get a parking sticker. You will get ticketed if you're a student without a parking sticker and you're just parking and student or.
Employee spots on campus. But yeah, playing, there's there's no limit and you don't have to be a sophomore junior senior to have a car. You can bring. Anybody can bring that.

If we apply to bring our car are we promised to be able to bring it? Or is it a raffle of the amount of people? Is it okay for freshman to bring their cars as well?
And even a lot, you know their their students park park back here and I park in this lot every day. And there are some cars I've seen parked in the same spot for about three to four weeks since the beginning of the semester, and so bringing no Bravo students those those students came in, they parked the car and they've been walking around campus. This dorm is very centrally located so it's easy to walk.
But anybody can bring a car if they want to.
Alright, if you have a last minute question here, definitely put that in right now. I'll put this contact information back up. Here's the three emails on here. One of them is mine, so feel free to send me a question if you have one.
The second one I mentioned earlier goes to Tim Neil, the Director of International recruitment. He also helps with international enrollment so he can help answer a lot of those specific questions. In fact, some of one of you asked a question.
About being a global scholar, I don't have the answer to that question. I would encourage you to just cut that question and paste it and send it to internationalswanee.edu.
And then you might be saying yourself, well, what's that third email? Why SR22 at swanee.edu? There's a couple of us here in the office that check that email and that actually almost all of the summer enrollment emails that you receive if you were just to reply to that email, it'll go to YS R22 at Swanee and one of us here in the admissions office will receive that question. Lots of those questions or questions that we can't answer in the Admissions Office, but we're happy to share with you.
Those people who can answer those questions, so why SR22 is another one. If you just don't feel like emailing me, that's totally fine. Send its YS R22. We've already gotten a few questions on that email address so we can do that. OK, we have a couple more questions in a few more minutes. You know we're getting at that point and don't wasn't it. They say like 4550 minutes is when you lose an audience, so we'll wrap this up here in just a minute. But here's a couple more questions at the end of the fall semester.

At the end of the fall semester, do students have to completely move out of their dorms?
Do students have to completely move out of their dorms? And the answer is no. So we have in most semesters will have a fall break, will have a Thanksgiving break, and then they'll be the winter break which happens in and around Christmas and New Year's. And the question is at that point when you leave for the fall to go wherever you go home or someplace else. Do you have to move out? You do not you. You can leave your stuff in your dorm room. You just travel home. Come back and you'll be in the same dorm.
In the spring and so this potentially that you know the only reason you wouldn't do that is if you actively are trying to change dorms, and so if you change dorms, then yes, but 99% of the people, the answer is no.

What is the difference between the Awards Day and the Preview Day?
Ah, here's a great question. What is the difference between the ECB awards day and the preview day? So for those of you who still want to get in a visit and you may have already paid a deposit and want to do that, or you may be one of the admitted students and you want to come, we would really encourage you to visit the campus this spring. You could come during the week for a tour and then info session. Eat in the dining hall. Some days you can meet with a Career Center staff.
Some days you can meet with students the student panel.
But if you wanted to come on a Saturday, we do have some events. Three of those are called previews. The Swanee preview and those events are available for current high school juniors and seniors and then then there are also events that are available only two.
Current seniors I was going back to the question because Oh yeah, what is the difference between awards named Preview Day? So there's a slightly different structure to the event, but essentially they're both really good ways to hear from our students here from our faculty. Get a chance to look around the awards day really is to to recognize students who have received a Merit Scholarship award, but it's a similar visit day to the preview day, and the schedules are actually on our website, so if you go to the event section.
Of our visit page, you'll be able to see the awards day schedule in the preview day schedule and kind of get an idea of what the difference is. Both of them are great ways to see Swanee and learn more, and so we would encourage you to consider all of those. There's also the Swanee experience, which I believe is on, I believe, is on a Monday, and that's another event that she may want to consider as a as a senior as well.
I think there's one more question.
Oh OK, yeah yeah yeah yeah, so somebody else is saying that they just got home from practice. I hope that went well as a former coach. I hope you had a great practice. Well the slide show be available later. Yes it will. It will be recorded and it'll be available on our website later. Actually, we're also doing another enrollment session later this semester, so keep an eye out for that and at that point they'll be more forms available so it'll be a similar session. But we're actually going to pull in the academic advising team.
So even if you did this session coming back to that second one could be really, really helpful because they'll talk about the course selection process, or at least we hope we hope that they have that finished enough that they could do that.
OK, I've come to the end of the questions. I really appreciate everybody logging in. We had about 54 participants and that's excellent. I would encourage you to reach out to any of these emails if you have more questions or come back to this video if you want to preview some of this information later. Definitely feel free to reach out if you have questions. We look forward and we hope that all of you are Swanee students next year. Some of you paid a deposit and you're coming and we look forward to to inviting you and welcoming you to Swanee.
And those of you who haven't decided yet, you know, reach out to us. We can help you navigate that process or go on tonight, pay your deposit, start the enrollment process. Once you pay a deposit, it'll take about five days for the forms to start populating, but just be ready for that. Alright, thank you very much for being here. We really enjoyed sharing this with you and any questions we can answer in the future. Don't hesitate to reach out.
Alright, take care goodnight.
